Tsunami Relief Effort
On December 26th 2004 the bright and beautiful sandy beaches of Sri Lanka were destroyed by a thirty foot Tsunami wave. Not only did the wave take the lives of thousands of people but it destroyed thousands of buildings, livelihood and the entire infrastructure the coastal regions of the island. More than 40,000 people have been reported dead in Sri Lanka. Most of them were in the eastern district of Batticaloa. Thousands were missing and more than a half million displaced. hSenid together with "Red Cross" visited "Valachchenai" a tsunami affected area and donated, as well as helped out with the relief aid workers. hSenid not only donated majority of the essential items needed for some villagers but also helped out in building shelters for the affected citizens.
Confidence in Water
In 2007 hSenid sponsored a "learn to swim" campaign conducted by Swim Lanka and the Rainbow swimming academy. The Swim Lanka Shallow Water Training Pool has a target course size of 108 children between the ages of 6 and 12. Swim Lanka is concerned with all tsunami affected children in the coastal areas of Sri Lanka, including displaced persons from the political situation and disabled children. The project builds their confidence to overcome their fear of water, through Trauma Confrontation, by giving water therapy.
